A wide range of opportunities is
available to pupils outside normal class time. These are only
possible because members of staff are willing to give up their
own time to lead these activities. (Teachers are not paid for
these activities.) Details of all activities are displayed
on noticeboards and issued in newsletters. The activities include:
Sport - Rugby, Hockey, Badminton,
Athletics, Football, Basketball, Tennis,
Golf, Weight training, Table-Tennis, Volleyball, Cricket, Concept Rowing.
Dance - Modern Dance. (Run
by senior students.) and preparation for the annual Dance Festival.
Music - Senior Choir, Junior
Choir, Wind Band, Recorder, Junior Pop Groups, Senior Pop
Groups, Guitar Group, Percussion Ensemble, String Group.
School Shows
There is a large-scale production each year, at the end of the summer
term. Past productions include Godspell, Grease,
The Boyfriend, Guys and Dolls, My Fair Lady,
Jesus Christ Superstar, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, Singing in the
Rain Many pupils of all ages take part and they gain much from the
experience. The production for 2011 was Hairspray.
Concerts
A concert is held in the week before Christmas and at Easter.
Sketchbook Club
A lunchtime club which produces television programmes.
Debating Society
Meets regularly and has had some very interesting
debates.
Latin Club
A weekly club for all, looking at the Latin in English and Latin itself.
S1/S2 Board Games Club
Held twice a week at lunchtimes.
Go Green Group (Eco-Schools)
Meets once a week at lunchtime. Pupils work on group
projects concerning environmental issues.
Computer Club
Meets several times at lunchtimes each week.
Drop-in Sessions
Many departments offer lunchtime session when pupils can see teachers
to obtain extra help with schoolwork.
