Leaving EHS

Leavers' Evening

In June 1992 the school held the first Leavers' Evening and this event has been held each year since then. Students leaving school are presented with their Records of Achievement and each receives a Souvenir Programme listing the destinations of all those leaving school.

During the second part of the evening, there is a reception for staff, parents and students. The evening finishes with a dance for staff, students and parents.

Following the success of these evenings a similar event is to be held every year and a fund has been set up to help finance the events on a regular basis.

Burt Medals

Dux medals are awarded each year to Dux Boy and Dux Girl. The medals have been awarded since Mr Burt, who was rector, presented the school with funds to be used to purchase medals each year.

Medals are awarded to students after completing 5th year. The awards are based on results in the SQA Higher Exams. Results in up to 5 Highers are used.

The medals are presented at a special assembly in the autumn term. At the assembly the Head Girl, Head Boy and Deputes are presented with certificates and the new Sixth Year is introduced to the junior school.
